The DJI Phantom 3 Standard is the cheapest model in the Phantom 3 series and is still one of the best drones you can buy. Currently priced at just $499 in the US and £509 in the UK the Phantom 3 Standard really is a total bargain.
The Phantom 3 Standard’s built in camera shots 2.7k video and 12mp images stabilised by a 3-axis gimbal. The controller is actually taken from the Phantom 2 model so isn’t as refined as the controllers from newer Phantom models but this is certainly reflected in the cheaper price point.
All of the usual DJI features you would expect to see are included on the DJI Phantom 3 Standard. The ‘Return to Home’ feature also found on previous models, uses the built-in GPS to record your take off point. It remembers this location whilst in flight so you can command the drone to return at any time or if the signal is ever lost between the drone and the controller then the drone will automatically head for this recored location and safely land.
The ‘Auto-Hover’ feature means that the drone will wait for your instructions to move, hovering with near perfect stability at the altitude and position you left off with the controls (weather permitting). You can also set flight safety limits meaning that the P3 will not fly beyond a certain altitude or distance you have set.
If you’re a total beginner but would still like a quality drone with great features and performance then the DJI Phantom 3 Standard is certainly the drone we would recommend starting out with whilst it is still currently available to buy.
