The Parrot Bebop 2 is an incredibly popular choice due to its small compact form factor and long flight times. The Bebop 2 weighs only 500 grams and packs in a whopping 25 minutes of flight time. It features a built-in camera that shoots 14 megapixel images and full HD video with 3 axis stabilisation. Bebop 2 comes with 8gb built-in flash storage that can be accessed through various smartphone apps remotely.
The Bebop 2 can be controlled from up to 300 metres away with the Free Flight Pro app on an iOS or Android device or over 6 times that distance using the Skycontroller remote control (sold separately or as part of a bundle). There is also an option to buy the additional FPV (first person view) goggles to give total immersion to the flying experience.
The modular nature of the drone makes it quite appealing, as it allows you to start out with just the drone and build on that when you have the extra money. If you don’t get on with the lack of tactile control and shorter range using the smartphone app then you have the option to upgrade to the Skycontroller.
Bebop 2 is packed with flight features including route mapping, return to home and ‘follow me’ feature that uses visual and GPS tracking. This means you can send it up in the air and get on doing what you love and it will just track and follow you.
The only drawback of Parrot’s Bebop 2 is the image quality in tougher flying conditions, but this is a shared issue in smaller drones. In terms of size and performance, you would need to be looking down the route of a folding drone to beat it.
